Romantic Food Allergy-Friendly Recipes – Drinks
Doesn’t a bottle of champagne immediately set a lovely mood? As fantastic as champagne sounds, sometimes it may seem a little too cliche. Therefore, here are our recommendations for 15 Italian inspired cocktails that are anything but a cliche. And Italians certainly know a thing or 2 about romance!
Of course, you probably already know that alcoholic beverages in the USA do not have to list ingredients or “May contain” the Top 9 food allergens. So, we email manufacturers to see if their beverages are food allergy safe for us.
Typical wine finishing can include fish, egg, gelatin & sulfites. Yet we find many wineries that do not include these food allergens. Including:
California’s Hawley Winery responded to us that their wines do not contain fish, gelatin or eggs.
And our favorite Italian winery Tenuto Torciano also does not prepare most of their wines with fish, gelatin or egg.
Another great. & alcohol-free drink is our Parisian Hot Chocolate. Food Allergy Hot Chocolate that tastes like European chocolate in a mug!
Yup, it’s that good. And did I mention this gooey hot chocolate is super quick to make, only a few ingredients and good for those with food allergies? As always, if you are allergic to any of these ingredients, simply substitute for your safe foods. This scrumptious Hot Chocolate is also a yummy dessert.
Romantic Meals – Breakfast/brunch, Lunch or Dinner
Romantic food allergy-friendly recipes can be for any meal. From breakfast or brunch to a late-night dinner for two. It’s ALL GOOD!
Here’s some of our favorites:
Breakfast – use your waffle maker & customize this breakfast treat! Always use our travel-size Dash waffle maker in a vacation rental/hotel as no chance of cross-contamination. Serve with fresh fruit, coffee of course & Mimosa’s (or Italian Bellini’s – in link above). Romantic Food Allergy-Friendly Recipes are super easy & inexpensive too when we start with Namaste Gluten-free waffle & pancake mix.
Lunch – Always a favorite: Pizza! Here’s our authentic Italian. no-knead recipe. Of course, you can use gluten-free flour. we recommend King Arthur brand Gluten-free flour for best results. And did you notice the heart shape? Romantic food allergy-friendly recipes that can be made anytime.

Dinner – Truffle Gnocchi & Broccolini – Yummy, pillowy Gnocchi are so delicious it could become your weekly Tuesday night dinner!
As an added bonus, ready in a few minutes, only 1 pot & super inexpensive.
As always, omit any ingredient that is not good for you. #dairyfree cheese alternatives are a fantastic substitution for Parmesan or Mozzarella cheese. This dinner can easily be adapted to be #Top9 food allergen free.
As my husband recently has to be low-fat, we toss gnocchi in pasta sauce instead of truffle oil. Serve with healthy broccolini.
Truffle Gnocchi with Broccolini
Italian Gnocchi comes together super-fast and is great vegetarian & Top 9 allergen free. Can be dairy-free if use dairy-free cheese or omit. Serve with garlic infused Broccolini. YUM!
Servings: 2 people
Calories: 250kcal
Ingredients
- 1 17.5 oz Mini Potato Gnocchi Pay attention to ingredients.
- 1-2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Truffle Oil or Pepperoncini Oil Or Dairy-free Butter or Pasta Sauce.
- 1 tbsp Parmesan Cheese Optional
- 1 Bunch Broccolini or Fresh Broccoli
Instructions
- In a medium sized pot, add a pinch of salt & cover until water is at a slow boil, add mini potato gnocchi.
- Strain with slotted spoon as soon as Gnocchi float to the top - about 2 minutes.
- Season with Truffle/Pepperoncini/EVOO or tomato sauce & Parmesan cheese.
- Once gnocchi are all cooked, drop broccolini into pot & cook for 2 minutes until crisp-done.
Notes
This is a very versatile romantic dinner! Add any toppings you like including cooked Sweet or Hot Italian sausage, fresh roasted veggies, etc.
Completely homemade Gnocchi is also super simple to make using potatoes, sweet potatoes, cauliflower or Ricotta cheese.
As a #foodallergyfoodie this meal tastes like eating in Italy! Truly. Only a few minutes of prep and dinner cooks itself.

Slow Cooker San Marzano Short Ribs Ragu with Pasta, Recipe:
Slow-Cooker San Marzano Short Ribs Ragu
Love in a bowl! Scrumptious San Marzano Short Rib Sauce with Pasta or Mashed Potatoes can be Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Nut-free, Top 9 food allergy free & a perfect romantic meal! Super-delicious you will think you're in Italy!
Servings: 6 people
Calories: 650kcal
Ingredients
- 1 1 lb Boneless short ribs, pot roast or flank steak 2 lbs. if meat has bones.
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced.
- 1 small Sweet Onion, small dice
- 1/4 cup Red wine
- 6 cups Beef Broth
- 1/2 cup Diced Carrots
- 1 26 oz can San Marzano Crushed Tomatoes Can sub jar of Passata.
- 1 Bayleaf
- 1 tsp Basil
- 1/2 tsp Thyme
- 1/2 tsp Oregano
- 1 box Pasta Rigatoni, Pappardelle or Mashed Potatoes
- 1 block Parmesan or Pecorino Cheese Optional
- 1 sprig Fresh Basil Optional - for garnish
Instructions
- In a large sauté pan, add 1 tablespoon EVOO, heating pan to medium-high. Add meat, browning. May need to additional additinal tablespoon of EVOO.
- Add onions, carrots, stirring.
- When onion & carrots have been sautéing for 2-3 minutes, add minced garlic, stirring.
- Transfer to Slow-Cooker, making sure you get all browned bits in pan.
- Add wine, San Marzano tomatoes and rest of ingredients (Not pasta).
- Cook on high for 3 - 4 hours or on low for 7 - 8 hours according to the instructions of your specific slow-cooker.
- When ready to eat, add pasta to salted boiling water and cook according to package directions. You want al dente as you will add cooked pasta to slow cooker for 2 minutes. Make sure to stir well when adding pasta to Ragu.
- Serve in pasta bowls with grating of Parmesan cheese & Fresh Basil.
Notes
Good pasta choices are Pappardelle, Fettucine or Rotini.
Can add salt & pepper to taste.
