Eating out with food allergies in Dubai was way easier than many places in the USA!” – my daughter Katie after returning from a whirlwind trip to Greece, UAE & India.
As you may have read our previous blog post on Dubai with Food Allergies, Katie’s trip started with a wedding invitation from her good friends!
Of course, all the old, familiar fears washed over me.
As a longtime food allergy mom, who started a travel agency to help others travel less stressfully when they have food allergies…my normal confidence of having overcome many, many travel food allergy situations, went quickly out the window!
Old memories came flashing back to me:
Are we only ever going to vacation at Disney World because they are amazing at feeding my multiple anaphylactic food allergy daughter…

The very popular American chain restaurant, Buffalo Wild Wings is located in the Dubai Mall of the Emirates. 1 Sheikh Zayed Rd – Al Barsha – Al Barsha 1 – Dubai – United Arab Emirates

Both my daughter Katie & Dubai traveler Sadie said groceries in the UAE listed out top allergens and are listed in English. Especially wonderful is UK grocery store Waitrose!

Notes:
Know that the famous Dubai chocolates are made with pistachios and other tree nuts, dairy and allergens. However, Katie is able to eat these delicious chocolate treats as there’s no peanut!!
This is an absolute 1st for us: to be able to walk into a “regular” chocolate shop! Loving Dubai 😍
Additionally, be aware that often, spices are sold from bulk containers. In our humble opinion, could be easy for cross contamination. As always, this is NOT medical advice.
Of course, stopping at the grocery store is helpful for Katie to also stock up on safe foods for her time in India.
Good to know, there are LOTS of Western chain restaurants in Dubai like Chipotle, Shake Shack, McDonalds, etc…but not sure if their ingredients are comparable to their US restaurants.
