Traveling Italy with Food Allergies: A Priceless Mother-Daughter Journey

Mother-Daughter Memories of Italy trip with Food Allergies.

Traveling Italy with Food Allergies: A Priceless Mother-Daughter Journey

Traveling Italy with Food Allergies: A Priceless Mother-Daughter Journey. Memories & Food Allergy wins in Italy!

We found places that didn’t just feed us but Welcomed Us! Safely, Kindly & with Open Arms. With Food Allergies!

This Summer, my daughter Katie & I shared something truly priceless: Time together in Italy.

This trip wasn’t just a vacation, our Small Group Tour 2025 was taking place, so definitely working as well.
But for Katie & I, it was also a Journey of Connection, Confidence & Celebration!
Traveling with Food Allergies isn’t always easy.
It takes planning and preparation.
Always asking multiple serious questions in a foreign language.
As well as making sure that people understand the gravity of anaphylactic #foodallergies.
And often times, courage.
Katie & I wandered cobbled streets, laughed over Gelato (YES! #foodallergyfriendly) & rod on scooters to St. Peter’s Square. As well as driving Vespa’s through the streets of Rome, stopping to eat at our favorite food allergy friendly restaurants & shopping for Christmas gifts.

But what this trip gave us? Freedom, Fun & Unforgettable Memories

Katie and I grew closer, knowing that these times are even more precious.
As Katie is now a young adult, the carefree Summers of childhoods past, are gone.

(But you can see our 1st trip to Italy, many years ago here: Planning Your Perfect Trip to Italy with Food Allergies. & on our Instagram.

These are memories that I will cherish for my entire life.
From Medieval Festivals in Florence, Italy to our Food Allergy-Friendly breakfasts on the terrace, Italy is magical!

Food Allergy-Friendly Places to Eat

We found places that didn’t just feed us but Welcomed Us!
Safely, Kindly & with Open Arms.
To every restaurant that took our questions seriously, to all the chefs & Nonna’s who prepared her meals and grabbed a clean ice cream scoop & opened a fresh tub of Gelato, every Italian who showed us that traveling with Food Allergies is absolutely possible, THANK YOU!!
Or in Italiano, GRAZIE MILLE!
Want to know a long-time favorite & #foodallergyfriendly Florence restaurant?
Ciro & Sons!! That’s me in the photo below, with Guiseppe, the owner.
This was Katie’s 1st choice when she landed in Florence & Guiseppe, and his lovely family, always take such great care of feeding us (& all our travel consulting clients too!)
Priceless trip to Italy with my daughter with Food Allergies!
Think you can’t travel internationally if you have food allergies? Nope!
This Summer reminds us that Food Allergies don’t have to limit our explorations. In fact, I will say, they rather teach us to live more intentionally.
And that is so worth the Journey!
Although, you absolutely 100% MUST HAVE Food Allergy Translation cards.
We personally use & are affiliates for Equal Eats. Our link will save you 10% & helps us with our business expenses – THANK YOU! 😄
The other MUST HAVE: “our handy-dandy backpack cooler!” As it’s Summer, hot, hot, hot! Keeps our #foodallergyfriendly meals & snacks a good temperature!
Here’s to more Memories, more Gelato & more times together with the ones you LOVE!
Here’s to more Memories, more Cocktails & more times together with the ones you LOVE!
