What Happens in Vegas…When You Have Food Allergies? A Girls Trip Filled with Fun, Food & Birthday Memories!
So we’re heading to the glamour & glitz of Las Vegas for an incredible Girls Birthday Bash!
And you’re coming with us.
Las Vegas, a milestone birthday, a family girls trip…Josh Groban concert, an incredible show, outdoor adventures & incredible food. Including a SCRUMPTIOUS afternoon tea that deserves its own post! What more could you ask for?
Well, when food allergies are a part of your families life, the most important item on your travel list is:
Making sure that everyone can enjoy the festivities safely.

A Food Allergy-Friendly Vegas Birthday Bash
As we get this party started, our Birthday Crew consists of:
My adult daughter Katie (who has multiple anaphylactic food allergies, see our post on our Food Allergy Journey here), my sisters Vicki & Jenn, my mom & cousin Kathleen & I are all heading to Las Vegas to celebrate a special 80th birthday!
We consider staying at Caesar’s Palace because the Josh Groban concert is at the concert hall there. However, for all 6 of us it’s considerable less costly to rent a VRBO, much more space & allows us to prepare some food allergy-friendly meals & snacks.
And ooh la la!! This is great house, only 10 minutes from The Strip with our own hot tub, pool & pool table!
Oh, & we have some pool (table) sharks too! You know who I am talking about!
So, what happens in Vegas this trip ISN’T staying in Vegas!
We’re here to dish on all the Food Allergy Friendly Travels we’re known for!
Make sure you’ve Subscribed to An Easy Journey blog as we LOVE to share our traveling with food allergy trips & tips with all of you! It’s something we consistently hear over the years:
Your trips inspired me to travel with my food allergies – thank you!”

Flying with Food Allergies to Las Vegas
As many of you may know, flying when you have food allergies is a concern. Especially for us, who are touch allergic to peanut.
For many of our 24+ years of flying with food allergies tips, see our post Flying with Food Allergies.
And make sure you’re bringing all your own safe for you food in a “handy-dandy” backpack cooler.
For any airlines that are reading this post, several of us choose not to fly @SouthwestAir as they now serve pistachio tree nuts onboard. As a business woman, do not understand the business case for serving peanuts/nuts onboard an aircraft that is 35,000 feet in the air, 20 minutes at best from landing in an emergency.
And because being prepared is 1 of the best ways to travel with confidence, we’ve put together our free Ultimate Packing List with Food Allergies to help you remember all the important things to bring!
Our very helpful Ultimate Packing List with Food Allergies is completely free, grab yours!

Always saves people time, $ & stress. Get yours for all kinds of trips!
Now, arrival in Las Vegas & rent a car thru @Turo – which worked out great & was significantly less expensive.
This trip, we order Instacart delivery, safe for us food so that we can relax & get this birthday party started!
Note: we check every food item & note on our order our specific food allergies.
Sitting around our pool, sipping a cool, bubbly glass of Prosecco, laughing together. This is already a PRICELESS trip!

Seeing Las Vegas with Food Allergies
As half of us are traveling from the East Coast & we have 2 senior ladies, our1st day is restful.
Breakfast on our terrace is easy & delicious. Coffee, of course and oj (some of us start the day with birthday Mimosas!)
Delicious fresh fruit, eggs & bagels…all safe for our food allergies.
Being together, talking, laughing, playing pool…SO MUCH FUN TOGETHER!
We may have to do this every year.
Today, we’re heading out to see the beautiful Bellagio & Flamingo casinos & then to afternoon tea at Peacock Alley at the stunning Waldorf Astoria hotel.

A Foodie’s Guide to Las Vegas with Multiple Anaphylactic Food Allergies – Afternoon Tea
WOW. Seriously, Peacock Alley can have its own blog post!!
We contacted them a few weeks prior to our trip & went over all of our food allergies (anaphylactic to: peanuts, shellfish, soy, legumes, & dairy & meat intolerant).
Peacock Alley spoke with us a few times to ask questions and confirm that they’re able to accommodate for our multiple anaphylactic food allergies. On arrival, the tea is even better than we anticipated. 1st, the setting is gorgeous, high in the Vegas sky.
But most important, is the depth of food allergy understanding & the safe, delicious savories & sweets! THANK YOU SO MUCH PEACOCK ALLEY!!
So much scrumptious food, we actually bring some back to our house for a late night treat!

Then a rest for the ladies & some pool time too.
A quick homemade dinner of baked salmon, sweet potatoes, & a fresh salad makes for a filling dinner before we’re off to see a show at the Copa Room in the Tuscany Suites & Casino, called “The Rat Pack is Back“.
Absolutely fantastic show! All of us, from 25 year old Katie to 86 year old Ellie enjoyed immensely!
Food Allergy note: alcohol in the USA does NOT have to list allergens. See our blog post on specifics here. Of course, you can opt for a non-alcoholic sparkling water, juice or soda.

Food Allergy Dinner at Amalfi by Bobby Flay at Caesars Palace
Today, we again enjoy a relaxing breakfast & some trivia games that get all us girls laughing!
These priceless times together can never be replaced. Truly special.
Picking up the pace, we have tickets for The LINQ Roller with unlimited Happy Half Hour. This too was so much fun! Our bartender Jose was really funny & pointed out interesting Vegas sights & made me a French 75 cocktail. All the rage & really good!
After the LINQ, we walked around. So much to see & do!

As tonight is the Josh Groban concert at Caesar’s Palace, we make reservations at Amalfi by Bobby Flay, noting our multiple food allergies. On arrival, the server asks many good, food allergy specific questions & Katie is able to choose some delicious food items – YEAH!! The rest of our group also enjoys the Italian dinner here!
Then it’s a short walk to the concert venue, where Josh is fantastic! Another fun day Birthday Bashing it in Vegas!

Brunch – Food Allergy Friendly & Hiking in the Hottest Place on Earth
Sleeping in on this Sunday morning. However, brunch at the Bungalow Coffee Company is calling & we must go!
A quick call yesterday & we feel good about eating out at Bungalow Coffee Company. Again, on arrival we double check with the manager, who thoroughly cleans everything before preparing our delicious meal. I enjoy a Cappuccino and Salmon Lox toast. Katie is hungry & chooses a Protein Breakfast & a Latte with almond milk (she did OIT for tree nuts a few years ago).

We eat everything & buy additional water bottles for our hiking in the Valley of Fire State Park. I mean, THE HOTTEST PLACE ON EARTH IMHO!
☀️ No joke, the heat is off the charts. Signs at the entrance literally say: HEAT WARNING. You may die.
At 1st, I thought it was funny…after hiking, not so funny. Please take the warnings seriously.
Katie & I are enjoy the hike & even see a bride & groom (in full wedding gown & tuxedo) posing for their wedding pictures. I think I would have melted in heels, a long dress & makeup!
As we’re long time food allergy people, know to always have our own safe #foodallergyfriendly snacks on hand & this proves helpful post-hike.
Then, we take the scenic drive back into Las Vegas. (Of course, there are tour companies that offer hiking & kayaking as well).

Spectacular Food Allergy Friendly Dinner at LAVOS at The Venetian
As it’s our last night in Las Vegas, we are going to the Venetian. And we have a lovely dinner at LAVO Italian Restaurant (again, reservations made ahead with questions about accommodating for our specific food allergies). Ultra chic ambiance, LAVO delivers delicious Italian food & they made us feel comfortable being able to accommodate for our many food allergies – BRAVO LAVO!!
Katie & I share an amazing Caesar Salad, enjoy their homemade bread (Wow!), while Katie enjoys a Margarita Pizza & I devour the Branzino fish with sautéed spinach. Kathleen has a delicious lemony salad and yummy chicken parmesan.
This is a fantastic restaurant & can absolutely see us coming back!

What Happens in Vegas…When You Have Food Allergies? A Girls Trip Filled with Fun, Food & Birthday Memories!
Of course, we have to plan our food/meals but that was pretty easy in Las Vegas to be honest. And after almost a decade of helping people travel the USA & World with food allergies (& 24 years of managing our own food allergies) , 1 thing I firmly believe:
Food Allergies may change how you plan a trip but they don’t have to take away any of the Joy of the Journey!
Our Las Vegas girls’ birthday bash was incredible!
We share the shows, outdoor adventures, dining discoveries, & the special moments that made this trip memorable, along with practical tips you can use when planning your own food allergy-friendly getaway.
Who says what happens in Vegas has to stay in Vegas?
