3 Perfect Days in Paris with Food Allergies: Restaurants, Tours, & Travel Tips

3 Perfect Days in Paris with Food Allergies!

3 Perfect Days in Paris with Food Allergies restaurants, Tours, & Travel Tips

Our 3 Perfect Days in Paris with Food Allergies Restaurants, Tours & Travel Tips!

If you read our last blog post on our week long Avalon Waterways river cruise – a dream for food allergy safety! Now, let’s rewind to where this adventure actually started: 3 days in Paris with a suitcase full of food allergy-friendly food, a backpack full of safe snacks and a stack of French allergy translation cards!

Paris is famous for its World class dining, but when you’re managing severe, life-threatening food allergies, in another language it can be absolutely intimidating!

As Parisian travelers immediately see, this City of Light is really built on butter, nuts, and escargot. Where taste means everything & the cafes and restaurants are super busy.

Before my daughter Katie & I boarded our Avalon Waterways ship, this is how we safely experienced 3 Perfect Days in Paris with Food Allergies: Restaurants, Tours & Travel Tips.

From eating out in Paris with Food Allergies to Seine River cruise!
Our 3 Perfect days in Paris eating out with Food Allergies & Seine River cruise – absolutely memorable Mother-Daughter trip!

Our Arrival in Paris – Day 1

Always looking for more/better companies for our travel consulting clients, we are trying car service @WelcomePickups, who are outstanding!

They are able to move up our pickup time by an hour at morning rush hour. And their driver is very nice.

Now, our Airbnb checkin isn’t until 3 pm but Katie has a lovely and generous idea: she treats me for Mother’s Day present of a Thai couples massage.

How wonderfully sweet! It’s a perfect gift that I greatly appreciate!

By the time our massage is finished, it’s time to check into our Airbnb in the wonderful 6th arrondissement, St. Germain Des Prés area.

Our 3 perfect Days in Paris is amazing!
Our 3 perfect Days in Paris is amazing! What we eat out with anaphylactic food allergies!

We have never stayed in the Saint Germain des Prés area but it quickly is becoming my favorite!

All around our apartment are shops, restaurants, grocery & markets, pharmacies (including the Instagram famous City Pharmacie – which is awesome).

Katie & I drop off our luggage at our lovely Airbnb, eat some quiche we brought from home & head out in the bright sunshine on a glittering Paris afternoon!

Note: we would ABSOLUTELY rent this charming studio in Paris again! Both Katie & I loved the location, rooftop terrace view, kitchen, great host & washer/dryer! Neighborhood seems super safe, easy transportation & centrally located. A bargain!

A sunny Spring day is lovely for our exploration of this stunning City of Love/Light.

We stop at the oldest church in Paris – the  Abbey of St. Germain, beautiful Tuileries Gardens in bloom, gorgeous Palais Garnier Opera House, & a walk along the Seine River to the spectacular Louvre museum.

After, grab a few food allergy friendly items from the nearby Carrefour grocery store before heading back to our Airbnb for a nap.

Paris Food Allergy-Friendly Birthday Dinner!!!

Awakening to grab some Birthday dinner at our favorite Les Deux Colombes restaurant (advance reservations essential & note, no other food allergy app, blog post or video has espoused this wonderful restaurant & for us, food allergy friendly restaurant…YET!)

As Les Deux Colombes is a traditional French restaurant, menus change seasonally & tables are super close. Also, they usually have some sort of fish on the menu if you have a smell fish/seafood allergy.

Especially delicious, Katie enjoys a yummy green salad, lick your plate vegetarian lasagna, French Fries & their homemade bread. YES – they make it onsite!

As usual, I cannot resist their 4-hour lamb with sweet potato – YUMMY! As well as we share an amazing French cheese plate…my favorite food!

After walking 20,000+ steps, we eat everything!!

As always, YOU MUST STILL VET FOR YOUR SPECIFIC FOOD ALLERGIES.  Everyone has different dietary requirements & things can change.

We have LOTS more Paris restaurant suggestions on our Instagram reels @An Easy Journey – Follow us here!

And, if you’ve read our blog posts, we have a lot of info on Paris & France, see: Travel posts.

Seine River Cruise without All the Food Allergy Stress

Then, we’re onto a special birthday treat: a Seine River cruise past the Eiffel Tower & stunning Paris landmarks! Especially breathtaking at sunset, when Paris’ lights sparkle extra brightly.

So that there aren’t any food allergy concerns, we choose a Seine River cruise that only has drinks (water, soda, wine, beer & of course, this is France, sparkling champagne!)

We have actually never done this in all of our trips to Paris & Katie & I enjoy this Seine river cruise immensely!

Then we head back to our Airbnb & celebrate Katie’s birthday on our terrace, overlooking the twinkling lights of a clear Paris evening – PERFECTION!

( Food Allergy Pro Tip: Because we are managing food allergies for 24 years now, we know to bring Katie’s Birthday cake in our backpack cooler).

Day 1 in Paris is SUPERB!

As my daughter Katie is an adult now (with no more summer school breaks), it is truly a priceless time together: walking & talking, laughing together & simply enjoying this special trip!

And that isn’t just my opinion, as writing this post, Katie says:

Mom, we travelled to Paris & France for 2-weeks together and it is so, so much fun! It felt like our trip was only 5 days! Really, Time Flies When You’re Having Fun! It is a very memorable trip!

Our 3 – Days in Paris Eating & Drinking with Food Allergies

Awakening to another amazing day, Katie & I eat a delicious homemade breakfast of eggs & sweet strawberries & head out for more Paris fun on Day 2!

What Katie & I did in Paris this trip:

  • Galeries Layfette Department store – Finally able to get my multiple food allergy daughter a (Jellycat) croissant & baguette in Paris! 🤣
The perfect croissant in Paris for your daughter who has Food Allergies!

  • Montmartre  Area of Paris – including the Instagram famous restaurant Maison Rose (we didn’t even attempt to eat at this very busy restaurant with our multiple food allergies. But if you have please let us know on our Instagram or Facebook Group Food Allergy Travels and Life.)
  • Sacre Coeur Basilica – Take the funicular up to this spectacular Catholic Cathedral which houses many sacred relics. Beautiful view but be aware of pickpockets!
  • Place du Tertre – the heart of Montmartre with musicians, artists & fun atmosphere! Magical actually.
  • Le Mur Des Je Taime – the “I LOVE YOU in 250 languages” wall & Le Clos, Montmartre’s hidden winery – Yes, in Paris!
  • The French National Library – Awesome architecture! Imagine coming here to study or check out a book! A more “Hidden Gem”place to visit.
  • And of course, stops at cafes for Matcha at Matcha Social Club (be aware, we saw quite a bit of nut milks & peanut butter matcha at many places.) & chain Noir for my delicious Cappuccino’s (they were very food allergies friendly with alternative #dairyfree “milks” and asked about severity as to wether they felt they could accommodate our specific food allergies).
  • A lunch/dinner picnic on the lawn at the Eiffel Tower – BEST view & you can pack your #foodallergyfriendly favs in your “handy-dandy backpack cooler“!
  • Dinner at L’Atelier Artisan Creperie near our Airbnb (SO good! Katie is able to have both savory & sweet crepes – a rare treat out! And a cafe we eat out with our food allergies again the night before we are to fly home.

Again, L’Atelier Artisan Creperie is not found on allergy apps, we vet for our specific food allergies in advance & again onsite. They have several casual restaurant locations. As things can change, you must always check for your specific food allergies).

Another food allergy aware restaurant that is a historic site in itself is the 1st cafe in Paris, the delicious Le Procope. Said to have 1 of Napoleon’s hats as well as where Thomas Jefferson & Benjamin Franklin frequented. Reservations a must!

Eiffel Tower at Sunset. Paris, France.
Eiffel Tower at sunset – the PERFECT place for a Food Allergy Friendly picnic! Paris, France. All photos here are our own. 🙂

What Wasn’t Good For Our Food Allergies

Because we travel to Paris & France often, lunch/dinner at the Eiffel Tower restaurants are not usually accommodating for our specific food allergies or many of our travel consulting clients as well.

Also, the dinner at the Moulin Rouge is terrible. From my personal dinner experience. And they’re not able to accommodate for many food allergies, including ours.

If you are watching videos on Paris, quite possible Le Train Bleu has come up in your feed. While absolutely magnificent, they are not great with accommodating for our food allergies. But a stunning place to stop by if your train is leaving from Le Gare de Lyon train station.

Shopping on our 3 Perfect Days in Paris with Food Allergies!
Shopping on our 3 Perfect Days in Paris with Food Allergies! I finally got to buy my daughter who has Food Allergies, a Parisian croissant!

 Oh, Amazing Shopping in Paris

Although Katie & I are not big shoppers, we are when we’re in Paris! OOH LA LA!!

From City Pharmacie (great skincare, moisturizers, toothpaste…etc.)..to the great Italian cosmetic store Kiko Milano. And the vintage flea market of Saint-Ouen, Paris delivers! Oh, & do you know Thanx God I’m a VIP has vintage, 2nd hand purses, designer fashions & more?

Needless to say, we are super happy with our Paris purchases! And please don’t tell – we are getting a lot of our Christmas shopping done now!

By the way, many people are asking me if I got my new ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE Delsey Paris suitcase on this trip. And my answer is “no” but we did see them for sale in France.

SO many compliments on my new Delsey luggage! I am definitely going to get the smaller suitcase as well. And please, if you’ve also considering, if you purchase thru our links here, our company receives a small commission at no extra charge to you, which helps make our business viable. WE TRULY THANK YOU.
