Is Disney the Only Place to Vacation

🎢 My daughter Katie was only a toddler when she had her 1st anaphylactic food allergy reaction on vacation in California. After that horrifying experience, I was terrified to travel.

Seriously. Our family would only go to Disney World – sometimes several times a year. Because at Disney World, Katie could eat easily.

Therefore, my husband Joe and I could actually relax. Which are what vacations should be!

How often did we vacation at Disney World? So glad you asked! 

So much so that my daughter asked:

Is Disney World the only place to vacation?

AAHHH…I was hoping that my young children wouldn’t notice.

Of course, not. But Disney World is a fantastic place to vacation if have food allergies.

Especially if someone is newly diagnosed with a food allergy, Disney Parks, Resorts & Restaurants make it an easier trip!

Your Magical Guide for Disney World with Food Allergies – Your Trip Plan

As a travel agency owner, your trip really matters to me.

And as a food allergy mom, I want you to have the very best, most wonderfully memorable trip you’ve ever had before.

So, let’s get planning your Disney trip!

Note: this is 1st in a series on Disney Parks & Orlando, Florida area with food allergies.

Top things to chat about:

• How many days of vacation?
• Any must see/do’s?
• Your Food Allergy Eating Plan/Reservations.
• Accommodation thoughts (on Disney property/AirBnB vacation rental off premises.
• Budget?

Most people will need to fly to Orlando, FL to visit Disney World, EPCOT, Universal Studios, Sea World & Legoland.

Always my top traveling with food allergies stressor: Flying with Food Allergies.

🚝 However, our most popular blog post is super helpful for tips & packing for flights with food allergies.

Some of our very favorite Disney/Orlando trips have been 4 and 10-day trips. Truly able to have a magical vacation on both a short and longer vacations.

Of course, adjust for your specific trip.

Here’s our Disney Trip:

Fly to Orlando, check into your accommodations, relax by the pool/play games/have dinner at a restaurant that doesn’t require a Park ticket.

DIsney Springs’ The Boathouse Restaurant is AMAZING! And their waitstaff is very well trained on food allergies – their name tags even tout food allergy awareness!

Also helpful: drop by the grocery store & pick up some food allergy-friendly snacks/food. 

Travel Tips:

• Look at weather for the next few days. If rainy or hot/cold, adjust plans & always pack your day bag with rain ponchos, sweatshirts or bathing suits depending on weather! 
• Bring your backpack cooler with your safe #foodallergy snacks/wraps etc… Not only money saving but helpful to feed hungry kids with their safe, food allergy friendly snacks/food while waiting in line!
• Note: others will also be eating in lines, so your specific food allergens are present. As a precaution, we suggest bringing wipes and having your allergy medications on you at all times.

Next day, see Magic Kingdom!

Quick Service eating or Sit Down Restaurant.

Now, depending on time of year and restaurant popularity, you should make all reservations as soon as you make accommodation booking. And state all your food allergies on reservation.

Disney has a whole system for Dining! See: Disney Reservations.

Of course, at Quick Service places, you will need to let them know your specific food allergies & ask to speak with a manager. Also, always double check their ingredient binders.

As well as when you’re eating at a restaurant, a Disney chef will come speak with you at your table.

These are some of the reasons that vacationing at Disney owned resorts/restaurants are food allergy friendly!

Note: NOT all places to eat on Parks/Resorts are owned by Disney. Make sure you know if the restaurant is owned & operated by Disney, as much different food allergy protocols.

Liberty Tree Tavern This American Tavern is a colonial era favorite! Found in Frontierland. This is one of our go-to in Magic Kingdom with a food allergy menu.

Especially kind, on our son’s birthday, Liberty Tree Tavern made my daughter a food allergy safe dessert so that she could share in her brother’s birthday dessert!

Cinderella’s Royal Table – with characters! Pricey, but who doesn’t want to have lunch or dinner in Cinderella’s Castle?

Food allergy menu available. Reservations essential.

Although my daughter Katie is not very princess obsessed, she absolutely LOVED having lunch & her photo taken with Cinderella and Princess’! Enchanted lunch or dinner for all generations.

Our FB Group also suggests Food Allergy Places in Magic Kingdom:

• Skipper Canteen near Jungle Boat – sit down restaurant with food allergy friendly menu. Reservations highly recommended.
• Join all the Winnie the Pooh characters at Crystal Palace – this is a buffet. Chef will speak with you & show you buffet items that they can prepare for you. Will bring your food to your table so no cross-contamination issues. All you care to eat & VERY popular! Gorgeous setting!
• Garden Grill has always popular Chip & Dale
• Sleepy Hollow near Cinderella’s Castle – homemade chips & funnel cake – YUM! Although Sleepy Hollow may not be good for all food allergies as serve hazelnut items.
• Quick serve Pinocchio House near It’s A Small World

Of course, if we’re talking castles here…

The very coveted Beauty & the Beast Castle Has a delicious lunch or dinner called Be Our Guest!

And they have a food allergy menu.

💞 Especially romantic for adults with food allergies/honeymoon/engagement.

If you know the story of the Beauty & the Beast, you know it is set in France. Therefore, their French themed menu is Tres Bon!

Now, if you are a food allergic person, you will understand the absolute JOY of being able to eat out with food allergies!

For a yummy, cool snack, many of us are able to eat at Aloha Isle for their very famous & Instagram-able Dole Whip!

Of course, not everyone will be able to eat this as has coconut/cross contamination.
