30 Tips for a Fantastic Food-Allergy Thanksgiving. Do you/family member/friend have food allergies? Especially with…
Food Allergy Hot Chocolate
Food Allergy Hot Chocolate that tastes like European chocolate in a mug! Yup, it’s that good. And did I mention this gooey hot chocolate is super quick to make, only a few ingredients and good for those with food allergies? As always, if you are allergic to any of these ingredients, simply substitute out for your safe foods. So, let’s get this party started!
Travel and Food – A Love Match
Years ago, I tried the famous hot chocolate at Cafe Angelina, in Paris. Yummy!!
Since then, I have become a hot chocolate connoisseur. Soon, you will be too! Always have extra ingredients on hand because this is a recipe you will make over and over again. While this creamy concoction is rich, it is not overly sweet. Even more important is to use really good chocolate. Either bittersweet baking bar (at least 70% Cacao) or food allergy-friendly chocolate chips. Just whisk a little longer as chocolate chips usually have stabilizers in them.
Then, add in any extra ingredients you like. Especially love a tablespoon of Bailey’s Irish Cream or Grand Marnier (over 21/legal drinking age). But also fantastic is a sprinkling of cinnamon, grated espresso beans or even a pinch of crushed red pepper (make sure to stir in hot chocolate well).
Absolutely scrumptious apres-ski/snowboarding, sledding or even after shoveling snow. In fact, this is a perfect recipe to make with your kids on a snowy day! With supervision, of course.
If you are a true chocoholic (not mentioning anyone by name…), you could have this food allergy hot chocolate with a slice of our Award-Winning Chocolate Cake! (I am working on re-vamping this to be more Food-Allergy friendly.)
Allergy Friendly Hot Chocolate = Inclusion
Also, a really versatile drink. You can have with whipped cream, dairy-free topping or even coconut whipped cream. So many ways to make this food allergy hot chocolate safe for you and your family. And ingredients that are really easy to take with you on a car trip or make in a vacation rental! No special equipment necessary.
As a food allergy Mom, I am always looking for recipes that are inclusive to those with food allergies. Know all too well what it feels like to tell a child, “Sorry, you can’t have that.” So, here is a customizable, extremely delicious food allergy-friendly hot chocolate recipe that so many people can have safely!
Enjoy! 🙂
