Food = Love Especially if Food Allergy Friendly
Of course, our inspiration for this food allergy friendly recipe comes from my absolute favorite chef: Ina Garten!
If you know Ina, absolutely beloved by all, she is funny & kind. Oh, and her recipes are THE VERY BEST!
When my daughter Katie was 1st diagnosed with multiple anaphylactic food allergies 24 years ago, I frantically was searching for recipes that would allow her to be able to safely enjoy foods she was seeing everyone else eat.
My goal was for:
Katie to be able to never feel left out or that she couldn’t taste something amazing!
As I said to Katie,
I will figure out how to make almost anything safe for her food allergies (peanut, tree nut, shellfish, soy, legumes and now dairy & meat intolerances).

Simple Ingredients & No Special Kitchen Items
Our recipe is simple, easy to make & requires no fancy kitchen gadgets.
It’s dairy-free, can be gluten-free, peanut-free, nut-free (note: coconut is classified as a fruit, NOT a tree nut. However. the US FDA does list coconut under “tree nuts” for labeling purposes. Our allergist early on informed us both coconut & nutmeg are not tree nuts. This is NOT medical advice. ALWAYS adjust for your specific food allergens). And egg -free alternatives here.
If you are newly diagnosed with food allergies, I do recommend purchasing a new baking sheet & don’t use for any of your food allergens like peanut butter & nuts as they have oils & often have sticky residue.
But this is just me!
Of course, if you are using fresh Spring strawberries, this is another delicious Easter dessert option to go along with our Hop To It Easter recipes post.

I hope that this Ina Garten Inspired Strawberry Shortcake Food Allergy Friendly Recipe makes your family as happy as it does mine!
